The-recipe’s landing page was designed to showcase their exceptional and innovative style of cooking and holding events, while covering their four key areas of business.
We designed an unusual portal into what they do. We wanted the ‘what’ page to have personality, each frame tells a different story, a contrasting experience.
Rather than add unnecessary pages, we felt streamlining the-recipe site would improve the user experience. This way we were able to cover their ‘product’, ‘approach’, the ‘team’ and their ‘clients’ all in one place.
David Wolanski and Gary Ingram worked hard to produce a memorable ‘venues’ page. The-recipe are very proud of the venues they are associated with and wanted to showcase their impressive list in a logo format.
The-recipe are a experienced and passionate catering company based in Gainsborough Studios, London. They pride themselves on producing amazing food for amazing events. They have an enviable list of venues they cater at such as The Tate, V&A, Royal Albert Hall and The Saatchi Gallery. One of the owners David Wolanski had a good idea of what he wanted to achieve, but needed us to visually articulate his brief. He didn’t want a run of the mill site, he wanted something which portrayed them personally. We also worked closely with Jean Cazals on the direction of the food photography, we were keen to add a story to the photos, not just simply take shots of the food. With strong concepts throughout we designed and developed a fully functional WordPress CMS based website which he and his colleagues can update on a weekly basis. Pages like ‘out and about’, ‘what’s happening’ or ‘hot 5′ help with Google rankings as they are talking about interesting things in the industry rather than just publicising themselves. Brand-ing is very much looking forward to working with David and his team on new and exciting projects in the future.
The homepage food photography was shot by jeancazals.net. Please do take some time out to review his amazing work.
the-recipe is an event catering business based in London. The company had been running for 5 years and we were using a very basic “template” website that we had purchased when we first started out. It had got to the stage that we either steered people away from it or apologised in advance before they went there.
We made the very important decision that we wanted a brand new site that was more representative of where the company was at present. The site would in essence be an online brochure with case studies and also conveyed the personality of our company. Another key factor was to promote the venues that have placed us on their approved supplier list.
I undertook a huge amount of research to find the right company to design our site. I trawled the web finding websites that I liked and contacted their designers, I looked on blogs, forums, read magazines & articles and generally asked around.
I compiled a quite comprehensive brief that we sent out to about 6 companies in the end. All came back with varying degrees of response in terms of content & price. In hindsight the quote we received from Brand-ing was very representative of their approach. Very thorough, professional but also pretty straight up & honest.
We decided to proceed with them mainly due to the quality of their previous work and the trust & faith we had that Gary, Clive & the team understood our brief, knew what we were looking for and most importantly “got us” . This was very important as conveying the personality of our company was a key aspect of the project.
As a small business this was a massive project for us and we were worried that we would be made to feel belittled as we had no prior experience of this process. The complete opposite was the case with Brand-ing who made us feel very included . Even when our ideas weren’t necessarily going to work, we were explained why and we understood the reasons and our numerous changes were met with good grace & humour. Their professionalism and experience really shone through during the project.
Overall we couldn’t have been happier – with both the end result & the process. We felt in safe hands throughout and would highly recommend them.
We initially came to Brand-ing solely to design our website but can see that this will now be an ongoing relationship for design. Already we have commissioned them to design a newsletter and promotional material to compliment the new website.
